According to a survey conducted by Tinder, 73% of Tinder users say they search the app for someone who knows what they want and is clear about it. The newfound approach that Tinder is gaining clarity when it comes to what kind of relationship a person is looking for is meant to help streamline interactions and weed out any matches that stem from misaligned expectations.
The information coming with the update isn’t new to Tinder users, as many explicitly state the types of relationships they want in their bios, though not all do. With official additions to each profile, users can now make faster decisions about the people they are looking to hook up with.
The options available to users are intended to provide a lot of detail in only a small amount of space. For example, there are five different options for the Relationship Type setting to include relationships like monogamy, polyamory, and more. Similarly, the pronoun options give users a choice of four pronouns to display on their profile from a list of 15 options.
