We pick the best office chair for EVERY budget in 2023

In this post, we rank the best office chairs at every major price point. We changed it up a bit, instead of picking just one chair for each price point, the three of us picked our personal favorites for the top price points. We also have different heights, Ryan 5’9″, Robert 6’3″, and Myself (Greg) 6″, so this should help give a better perspective on fit for more of you.

The best office chair for ALL budgets

Price Ticova 2023: $199-$299 Buy here: amazon.com

The Ticova chair

The first selection is the Ticova. It is an Amazon product for $229. The Ticova chair has many good qualities. The arm depth and aggressive lumbar support make this a comfortable option for people. The lumbar is easily adjustable with a quick turn of the dial. There’s a deep recline that stays put, as well as the flexibility of the backrest to move freely. This chair is well built overall at a good price.

Clatina Mellet 2023 Price: $239 Buy here: amazon.com

Following the Ticova, is the Clatina. This option also offers lumbar support, but sometimes it can become too much and you may need to remove it entirely.

You can adjust the depth of the seat. However, by altering it too much, you can create too much space between the seat and the back of the chair, which could cause discomfort. The seat itself is padded nicely and the recline fits your back well.

Eurotech Vera 2023 Price: $539.00 Buy here: BTOD.com or Amazon.com

The best option in this price range is the Vera. We agree that it is a well-rounded chair that can accommodate many body types. The Vera offers a mesh back that provides excellent support, as well as a thick seat to ensure total comfort. The number of adjustments with this chair makes it much easier to really customize it for your body. One downside to the Vera is the headrest, which juts out too far forward, making it difficult to lean your head back. The armrests will not accommodate everyone as they are a standard height and cannot be moved lower.

Haworth Soji 2023 Price: $616.00 Buy here: Haworth.com or Amazon.com

Meanwhile, in the higher price range, we recommend the Soji chair. This high-end chair ranks number one on the list for a number of reasons. The Soji has a slightly wider frame than the Vera so it can accommodate more body sizes. The armrests are soft to the touch and have a greater range of motion for adjustment. One downside to the Soji is that it doesn’t have an aggressive lumbar so it might not be the best fit, however it is adjustable.

At this price point, it’s important to note that buying a refurbished chair can be just as good because you can still get a good quality chair for less. Refurbished models that are typically around $700 are the Steelcase Leap, Steelcase Amia, and the Herman Miller Aeron Classic.

Steelcase Amia 2023 Price: $999.00 Buy here: Steelcase.com or BTOD.com (refurbished)

This price may scare some people, but in the long run it is a good investment. With this range, there are more options for comfortable and durable chairs. They will also have more features and improved technology. The Amia is a preferred chair. Provides guaranteed comfort for longer. The lumbar can be easily modified up and down to your liking. There’s a seat depth adjustment that can make or break leg strain, so be sure to tweak that too. The Amia chair does not provide a headrest, however, you would not necessarily need one with the other amazing features that make this chair one of the best.

Haworth Fern 2023 Price: $1475.00 Buy here: Haworth.com or Amazon.com

Now what if you could choose ANY chair? Budget was not a deciding factor. What would you choose? The first chair we suggest is the Haworth Fern. There’s no headrest or lumbar support with this one, but it conforms to your body. It has four-way arms and fabric that is designed to be lightweight. The best feature, by far, is the backrest for its flexibility and softness. It supports you no matter how you are positioned. The recline works effortlessly to ensure relaxation throughout your workday. The armrests have solid padding and can be adapted to any person.

Herman Miller Aeron Stool 2023 Price: $1700.00 Buy here: officedesigns.com

In addition to the Fern, we have the Herman Miller Aeron Remastered, the stool version. Now if you are someone who uses a standing desk then this could be the perfect fit. It has a fantastic recline with comfortable arm pads. With a stool, it can be harder to get comfortable, but this chair is fully loaded. It has all the major components including the posture adjustment rotary dial on the back and a unique footrest that moves up and down. The Herman Miller also comes in black and white to transform any office space.

BTOD Lamia (Steelcase Leap + Amia Set Pad)

Finally, we would like to introduce you to the ‘Lamia’, which is the combination of Leap and Amia. This isn’t a true manufactured chair, but without a budget, buying both chairs wouldn’t be a big deal. We attached the Amia seat to a Leap back in our office to see the comfort level. To our surprise, it worked well because you can have the best of both worlds by having a more aggressive back and lumbar. Actually, maybe one day they will create a chair that features components from both Amia and Leap.

Ultimately, all of these chairs have great features that might work for some and not others. All comfort levels differ, and you won’t really know what you like until you try one on. No matter your budget, there’s a chance one of these chairs will fit you.
