He edge browser has a new binge icon on the toolbar that, when clicked, opens the Discover the sidebar. You can use it to quickly find information or get to know the web page. There are lots of things you can do with the new Bing icon in the toolbar, like search for things. Some of the users see an error message while trying to use the Bing icon: The content is locked. Contact the site owner to resolve the issue.
Some of the main causes of this problem could be:
- VPN use
- Security software features that interfere with the browser
You need to eliminate the possibilities of the error one by one to fix the error and use the Bing button.
Fix Content is locked error when using Bing button in Edge
If you see Content is blocked, please contact the site owner to fix the problem error, in Microsoft Edge while using the Bing button, you should first clear your browser cache and see if it helps. You may also need to disable your VPN or disable some network protection features in your security software.
Let’s go into the details of each method and fix the problem.
1]Clear Edge Cache

The cache that builds up with the use of Edge could have caused the error. To fix the problem, you need to clear the cache in Microsoft Edge and try using the Bing button again.
To clear the cache in Edge,
- Click on the three dots button on the toolbar
- select history
- Now click on the three dots button in the History panel
- Select Clear browsing data
- The Clear browsing data settings will open. Select All time under Time range and select Cookies and other site data, Cached images and files. Then click Clear Now to delete them.
2]Disable VPN
If you are using a VPN, it could also cause this error. You should disable VPN and see if it fixes the problem. Sometimes content or features are restricted for use on a VPN. You have to be aware of that. So right-click on the taskbar icon and select Disable or Exit.
3]Change your security software settings

The error can also be seen if your security software’s network settings are interfering. You must disable this setting.
For example, if you use Kaspersky, there is a feature called Inject scripts into web traffic to interact with web pages which is enabled by default. This causes the error when using the Bing button in Edge. You need to disable that feature to fix the error.
To disable the Inject script feature in Kaspersky,
- go to settings
- Select Network Settings
- Uncheck the button next to Inject scripts into web traffic to interact with web pages in the Traffic Processing section.
- Click Save to save the changes.
Similarly, you should check such settings in your security software.
