Following their promotion at the end of Season 2, the AFC Richmond Greyhounds find themselves back in the Premier League. Unfortunately for them, everyone expects them to finish last. It’s up to Ted, Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt) and Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) to keep their team’s spirits up, though a win or two would certainly help.
Roy Kent’s constant swearing in ‘Ted Lasso’ is a delight
What doesn’t help is that rival team West Ham United is predicted to do very well in the Premier League under the new manager, Manager Nate (Nick Mohammed). Nate not only leaked Ted’s panic attacks to the press and ripped his “Believe” poster in half, but by joining West Ham, he also bonds with Rupert (Anthony Head), Rebecca’s (Hannah) swine ex-husband. Waddingham). Standing up to Rupert continues to light a fire in Rebecca, and this season sees her become the owner of the club.
Like in season 2, ted lasso continues to expand its world beyond its main cast. Keeley’s (Juno Temple) new PR firm introduces his new employees and friends to the show’s circle, while Trent Crimm (James Lance), before the independent, takes on a larger role as he plans to write a book about the Richmond season. Elsewhere, the show gives more time to Richmond actors, including Jamie Tartt (Phil Dunster), Sam Obisanya (Toheeb Jimoh) and Dani Rojas (Cristo Fernández), who remain an excellent comedy ensemble. A fun addition to the cast is Maximilian Osinski as top-class footballer (and total diva) Zava, whose move to the Premier League sends shockwaves through Richmond and its player dynamics. Still, it’s a lot to cram into a comedy, and the episodes’ 50-minute runtimes are a bit on the heavy side compared to Season 1’s faster half-hour pace.
ted lasso continues to address mental health in season 3.

Mental health is still a big part of ted lasso Season 3, with Ted continuing to talk to therapist Sharon (Sarah Niles) as he processes his panic attacks and divorce. The series’ treatment of these scenes is sensitive and sad, as we see how Ted’s overly cheerful exterior masks a deep sadness that he still grapples with. Every time his jokes or lessons feel also Saccharin, as is the case with a team field trip in the first episode, there’s a constant sense that Ted is overcompensating for his own stresses and fears.
And Ted is far from the only character to experience mental health issues. Players like Jamie and Colin Hughes (Billy Harris) struggle with his self-esteem, while relationship problems affect both Roy and Keeley. Then there’s Rebecca, whose wounds from her time with Rupert reopen whenever her teams clash, whether on the field or in the press.
The most fascinating of these arcs is about to be Nate’s. Now completely cut off from Richmond, Nate finds himself seduced by the riches of Rupert and West Ham. He begins to embrace cruelty on and off the field, though his occasional hesitation suggests a hope for redemption. Apart from the brilliant set of ted lasso For most of the season thus far, Mohammed does a great job of bringing Nate’s complicated internal battle to the surface in every scene.
The possibility of Nate’s return to the light side is furthered by the fact that Rupert is the closest thing. ted lasso it has to do with a villain twisting his mustache. As he stalks the swanky West Ham offices dressed all in black, it’s not hard to make a connection between him and Nate, Emperor Palpatine, and Darth Vader. Since season 2 was ted lasso‘s The Empire Strikes Back season(Opens in a new tab)could we see Nate turn on Rupert the same way Vader turns on the Emperor in return of the jedi?
A possible redemption arc for Nate is just one of many stories. ted lasso is being meticulously set up in these early episodes, along with the ongoing rivalry between Richmond and West Ham and candid looks at each character’s vulnerabilities. Do I know exactly what the future holds for our Greyhounds? I don’t think so ted lasso will take us through a sweet and satisfying narrative? Definitely.
ted lasso airs on Apple TV+ starting March 15, with new episodes weekly.
