NVIDIA RTX 4070 non-Ti already has a release date
Hardware leaker hongxing2020 shares the first information about the GeForce RTX 4070 release date.
We have already revealed that a fourth installment of the NVIDIA RTX 40 desktop series will launch in April. However, the initial embargo information did not have details on the exact date, as these are usually clarified later. According to hardware leaker hongxing2020, which had correctly revealed the release dates for the RTX 30 and RTX 40 SKUs earlier, the RTX 4070 will now launch on April 13 (Thursday).

The non-Ti RTX 4070 is reportedly based on the same GPU as the RTX 4070 Ti, which is AD104, but with fewer cores. The RTX 4070 is said to be able to feature 5888 CUDA cores, which is a cut of 1792 from the full die used by the Ti model. The fact that the RTX 4070 uses the AD104-250/251 GPU variant is also pretty much confirmed at this point thanks to leaked photos of this die specifically.
The good news is that the RTX 4070 should launch with the same memory specs as its Ti sibling. That being said, gamers should expect 12GB of GDDR6 memory on a 192-bit interface. It was also mentioned that the RTX 4070 should have a TDP of 200W, much less than the RTX 4070 Ti (285W), but note that TDPs don’t always correlate to actual power consumption, especially when considering NVIDIA architecture. The company is now gradually lowering the line to cheaper models as existing stock of the RTX 30 is running low. Just yesterday we reported that NVIDIA has removed its RTX 30 Founders Edition SKUs from official stores. A clear indicator that a successor is coming. We expect updates on the RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 4060 series as well in the coming weeks, however, NVIDIA does not yet have an official embargo on those models.
It’s also worth remembering that NVIDIA’s CEO will soon be taking the stage at GTC on March 21. It would be reasonable to expect a short segment of updates to GeForce RTX 40 products.
