Moore’s Law is Dead revealed the purported pricing of NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card set to launch next month.
Reference NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 models are reportedly priced at $749 US, premium models around 4070 Ti MSRP
According to Moore’s Law is Dead, it is rumored that the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card could cost much more than expected. Yesterday, it was reported that NVIDIA was going to split the GeForce RTX 4070 reviews into two parts, the baseline MSRP reviews for April 12 and the variants that cost an additional premium for April 13. Rumor has it that for the hotfixes that were released on April 12, NVIDIA told the AIBs that they can only include cards that cost no more than $749.99 USD.
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 “Reference” Assumed MSRP – $749.99 US
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 “Premium” Assumed MSRP – $799.99 US
This is just $50 less than the MSRP of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti graphics card. As for the premium models, it is reported that those variants could end up close to $799 US, which is the MSRP of the 4070 Ti. This would mean the RTX 4070 would end up $250 more than the RTX 3070, a 50% price increase over its predecessor. Now nothing is set in stone and these prices may change as we are still a month away from launch.
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti finished close to the RTX 3090 Ti in terms of performance, while the RTX 4070, which is a scaled-down variant of that card, is expected to sit somewhere between an RTX 3080 Ti and an RTX 3080. Note that the vast majority of the RTX 3080 and RTX 3080 Ti are out of stock and cost between $600 and $850, giving us a point of reference as to why the price is so high. Also, the competition has yet to offer a product under $900 and the cheapest RDNA 3 card still retails for around $849.99, though some variants have seen drastic price cuts of around $800. USD.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 “rumored” graphics card specs
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 is expected to feature the AD104-250/251 GPU core. The GPU will feature 5888 CUDA cores and 12 GB GDDR6X VRAM running at 21 Gbps. It seems there are three PCBs designed for GeForce RTX 4070 graphics cards, two of which we had pointed out last month and another has been revealed by kopite7kimi. Two of these are for the reference cards, while one is for the Founders Edition, as detailed below:

The graphics card is expected to feature a 200W TGP which featured a 220W TGP, so you’ll get a 10% reduction in power. Also, another interesting thing to note is that the GeForce RTX 4070 core configuration is very similar to the RTX 3070, which also boasts 5888 cores, but the successor houses the Ada GPU core, which should not only provide additional performance but also higher efficiency. The card also reportedly has a base clock rate of 1920 MHz and a boost clock rate of 2475 MHz, giving it around 30 TFLOPs of computing power.
