Enable display sound effects
Before you even jump into a match, go into settings inside Fortnite and navigate to the Audio section. Here you will find an option to View sound effects. Turn it on and you’ll be visually notified of many sounds, including footsteps and enemy chests. This will give you a huge advantage, as you’ll have a clear indication of where nearby enemies are at all times. Also, it helps to know where the chests are, as having a solid loadout can lead you to victory.
Choose a suitable landing spot
The fate of a party can be determined by its landing spot. If you’re a newcomer, landing in a hot spot will likely lead to early elimination. Have a mixed load
In Fortnite, firefights occur at all distances, up close, at medium range and from afar. Because of this, it’s best to make sure you have weapons that work for all situations. For close range we recommend a shotgun or pistol, for medium range SMGs and Assault Rifles work great, and at long range you’ll want a sniper or DMR. Having a varied loadout will allow you to compete, no matter the situation. Likewise, it’s important to always start each firefight with full health and shields, if possible.
Pay attention to enemy shots.
If you look at the top of the screen, you will see a compass that shows the direction of enemy fire. This is indicated by a red dot, so be sure to use it in conjunction with Visualize Sound Effects to get an idea of where your opponents are.
Be aware of the position of the storm
It is important not to have tunnel vision while playing. If you get distracted, the storm will come and sweep you away quickly, leading to an early elimination. Instead, always take a look at the timer below the minimap to make sure you know when the storm will move. Similarly, be sure to check the map to see where the next circle is so you don’t get caught.
Practice building in creative mode
Construction is a major component of Fortnite Standard battle royale mode, but it’s a tremendously complex mechanic that can be intimidating to learn. Instead of trying to learn within a live competitive environment, jump into a creative game to practice building quickly. Your goal should be to learn how to put up a wall around yourself quickly, which will come in handy when an opponent fires at you while you’re out in the open.
Play with (or watch) experts
The best way to improve is to play with veterans. The benefits of this are huge, as you can learn little techniques that you wouldn’t otherwise learn. Be sure to pay attention to the calls, weapons, and little strategies used by expert players so that you can implement them yourself. If you don’t have experts to play around with, it can also be helpful to look at popular YouTubers or streamers. Learning from your own mistakes is helpful, but so is learning from others.
Don’t shoot unless you know you’ll win the shootout.
It’s easy to want to shoot every enemy you see, but often, simply spotting an opponent isn’t enough to ensure a kill. The enemy may be close to cover or may be good at dodging so we only recommend shooting if he is 100% sure it will knock you out. Firing prematurely can alert your enemies, giving them plenty of time to prepare. The best course of action is to follow your opponent until you have a clear shot while making sure there is little to no cover before shooting.
How to win Fortnite Solo
Playing Solo in Battle Royale is different than fighting alongside friends. When you play Solo, you don’t have teammates to watch your back, so you’ll need to be much more deliberate with your decisions as you try to survive. This also means that while you’re less likely to be up against multiple enemies at once (at least initially), you might find yourself in more firefights overall compared to team-based modes.

Team-based modes, on the other hand, play out very differently. Having squadmates can have a huge impact on the pace of a match, allowing you to win more firefights, even if you find yourself in situations you may not be comfortable with. Since you have other players to watch your back, you can get out of sticky situations more often, especially if you communicate effectively.

It’s a double-edged sword, as your enemies are in the same boat as you. This, in many ways, makes things easier since you don’t need to learn how to build walls around yourself. You can spend less time searching for resources and more time moving, allowing you to survive longer.
