Destiny 2 Vexcalibur: Expert Clearance Override and Mysteries Guide

Destiny 2: Lightfall’s Season of Defiance introduced the new exotic glaive Vexcalibur via a secret exotic quest //NODE.OVRD.AVALON//. This exotic quest is followed by more quests, adding new abilities to Vexcalibur that help you uncover secrets in //NODE.OVRD.AVALON//.

Last week, completing the quest Vexcalibur: Authorization Override allowed players to break through Vex barriers and acquire another version of the weapon’s intrinsic perk by accessing secret nodes. If you want to complete the Season of Defiance title, you will need to complete all three override missions to get the Crtl-Alt-Complete triumph.

Players can take the second quest, called Vexcalibur: Expert Clearance Override, from HELM.

Vexcalibur: Expert Authorization Override

For the first step, you’ll need to quickly defeat the Vex enemies using Vexcalibur; you can shoot the gun or melee. It’s best to do this in a Lost Sector like The Orrery on Nessus or Thrilladrome on Neomuna to take down Vex enemies quickly. You can also jump into the Garden of Salvation raid. Then, equip the new Expert Authorization Override mod on Vexcalibur.

You will then need to complete the //NODE.OVRD.AVALON// quest again, and if you haven’t done any of the data recovery secrets in the exotic quest, such as Data Recovery: Substratum, one that gives you the Intrinsic Perk : the mission will ask you to solve a mystery. After completing the mission, return to the HELM to get your reward.

However, there are still other mysteries to be solved.

Data recovery: mystery of the aberrant subject

There is a large pit near the start of the quest, just before you jump into the Vex Radiolaria. As you jump down the shaft, there are smaller platforms along the sides of the walls and one of those platforms has a green data node that you can activate.

After activating it, head into the circular room with the Hobgoblin who is trapped behind a Vex barrier. Then jump up to the upper platform with another green data node. Activating the second node frees the trapped Hobgoblin and completes Data Recovery: Triumph of the Aberrant Subject.

Data Recovery: The Mystery of the Cannonball

To get the Data Recovery Mystery: Cannonball, you must have the Expert Authorization Override mod on your Vexcalibur. This mod allows you to damage nullify nodes, which share the same shape as the prism, cube, and diamond puzzle mechanics, in the exotic mission. Also, make sure you have ammo for your Vexcalibur for these nodes.

After passing the Removal Protocol and defeating the big boss Hydra Data Nullifier, you will eventually reach a Vex spherical catapult that will take you to another platform. When you land on that platform, he looks up to shoot the first red nullify node with Vexcalibur.

The second override node is directly below, floating next to the platform. Carefully jump onto a lower ledge and shoot the override node.

The last one is on the small ledge where the Goblin spawns, but it’s hidden inside a cavity in the platform.

Grabbing all three nullification nodes spawns a chest and completes the data recovery: Cannonball Triumph.
