Throughout his time on the air, Strange things has delivered fans with a pretty excellent lineup of creatures. Some of those creatures have proven to be more threatening than others, but all of them have posed a threat of one kind or another to the residents of Hawkins.
Now, with the full knowledge of who Vecna really is, we know that all of these creatures are extensions of him in one way or another. Even so, that doesn’t make any of them any less threatening in their own right. With all that in mind, we have ranked the many monsters of Strange things from best to worst.
7. Demodogs
Dustin can try to keep one as a pet, but that doesn’t mean we have to like demodogs. The monster itself may be losing a few points due to how stupid Dustin is taking it, and it’s true that the creatures can be downright hideous.
Bob’s death, in particular, is a reminder that no creature on Strange things it can be classified as anything other than dangerous. Because they are controlled by the Mind Flayer, they can be especially dangerous in numbers, even if they are not the most dangerous threat facing the residents of Hawkins.
6. The vines

See, it can be hard to make vines threatening under any circumstances, and Strange things it certainly does what it can. Even so, the series does an admirable job of suggesting the threat they can pose, especially since they’re all connected and can attack with force.
Vines also possess a strength that makes them formidable, though thankfully they appear to be vulnerable to fire and brute force. They flatten out a bit simply because the design isn’t all that interesting, and sentient vines aren’t exactly something that Strange things made up
5. Demonstrators
Another scarier enemy on a grand scale, the demobats are part of one of the best sequences of season 4. When Eddie Munson decides to sacrifice himself to save his friends, we get a fitting tribute to Metallica, and also a firm understanding of just how much deadly these creatures can be.
Although Vecna himself can fly, aside from him, the Demobats are the only villains our main gang has fought with that ability, making them an exceptionally powerful threat given how often our heroes don’t have more than a few bicycles at your disposal.
4. The Spider Monster

It’s made of meat to scream out loud! The Spider Monster is actually another extension of the Mind Flayer, and even resembles that creature, but what makes the Spider Monster so creepy is that it’s a collection of rats and people that our heroes know or knew at some point.
Combined with Billy, Spider Monster was quite a potent threat and a reminder that villains from the Upside Down can cause real, material damage to our world. It’s a really disgusting weapon, and also the beginning of a change for Strange things into a much more adult version of himself.
3. The Mind Flayer

The show’s main villain for seasons 2 and 3, the Mind Flayer appears to be much stronger than any foe our heroes faced in season one. He is not only capable of residing in a wide range of different life forms, but also appears to be the best weapon Vecna has ever created for his mission to destroy the world above.
The Mind Flayer is also a very well designed creature, with a unique combination of elements that make it feel part of this world and completely separate from it. He may not have been the big bad we all thought him to be at the time, but he was certainly a worthy opponent. Let’s hope Strange things Season 5 has such a scary and ugly monster as The Mind Flayer.
2. The Demogorgon

The Demogorgon isn’t the strongest opponent our heroes have faced, but it gets a lot of credit for being the first. Straight out of Dungeons and Dragons, the creature’s haunting design is part of what earned it such a prime placement on this list.
His humanoid design only makes the gaping hole where his face should be all the more menacing, and his battle with Eleven throughout the season feels like a perfect showcase for what this show can be at its best.
1.Vecna

An easy choice for first place, Vecna is the former human who has been pulling the strings all along. As it turns out, she possesses powers equal to or even greater than Eleven’s, and it was Eleven’s banishment to the Upside Down that ultimately transformed him into the nefarious creature that she is now.
He is bent on destroying the world of the living, and if the end of Strange things season 4 is an indication that it could be on the road to success. More powerful than any other creature in the show’s history, and someone who feeds on the pain of the living, Vecna is the villain. Strange things it has been building towards all the time.
Strange things seasons 1-4 are streaming on Netflix.
