AMD Ryzen 3 4300G Launches for DIY Market in Japan
The 2020 Ryzen 4000G CPU is now available through retail.
AMD hasn’t said goodbye to the Zen2 architecture yet. In fact, the Van Gogh processors from Steam Deck or PlayStation/Xbox aren’t the only Zen2 processors still in production. The company announces that the Ryzen 3 4300G APU is now being released for the DIY market in Japan, which is already on sale in Europe.
Officially, the 4-core Ryzen 3 4300G is an OEM product only. This means that the processor can be found in PCs from system integrators or directly from OEMs. In reality, many retailers sold OEM CPUs directly to customers, so at one point it didn’t matter.
This APU is based on socket AM4 and has a configurable TDP from 45W to 64W. Since this is a power limited desktop processor based on an architecture that is now two generations behind, the clock speed is not that high, only up to 4.0 GHz. However, this is still a 7nm APU and should find the perfect use for home media systems, but maybe not for gaming PCs.

Although the original release date was July 21, 2020, the CPU now has a new release date of March 10, 2023 in Japan. A boxed version with the Wraith Spire cooling solution costs 15,800 JPY, which is only $116.
As mentioned, the CPU is already on sale in the EU market (and has been for many months). The current price is only €86, which is around $90. That’s a good price for a quad-core CPU, considering that even used 5000G APUs don’t currently sell for less than $100.
