AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D is up to 24% faster than Core i9-13900K in games
AMD has revealed the first official benchmark results for its upcoming Ryzen 7 7800X3D.
According to the slides shared by Tom’s Hardware, AMD has now confirmed the official performance of its upcoming 8-core Ryzen 7 CPU with 3D V-Cache. Only a few handpicked title benchmarks were shared, so it’s definitely too early to draw any final conclusions.
The 7800X3D has 8 cores, 96MB L3 cache, 120W rated TDP, and boost clock up to 5.0GHz. That’s a 15W higher TDP than the 8-core Ryzen 7 7700X and a 400MHz boost clock. lower compared to the non-X3D SKU. This CPU was compared to the 24-core Core i9-13900K processor, Intel’s second-best Raptor Lake desktop CPU. What may be important to note is that the 7800X3D and 13900K systems were equipped with the same DDR5-6000 memory kit.
Today, AMD shares 1080p gaming performance in competitive titles like Rainbow Six Siege, Total War: Three Kingdoms, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Horizon Zero Dawn. Based on AMD’s numbers, the 7800X3D would be 13-24% faster than the Core i9-13900K. On average, we’re looking for 19.5% better performance, but keep in mind that these are vendor-provided benchmarks, so final performance may vary.

Based on AMD benchmarks, 8-core Ryzen with Zen4 3D V-Cache architecture would be 21-30% faster than the latest generation Zen3 CPU with 3D V-Cache (5800X3D). On average, that’s also a 24% improvement. For this comparison, AMD has changed three titles to Warhammer Dawn of War II, CS:GO and DOTA2.
Tom’s Hardware notes that AMD provided benchmarks indicating that the 7800X3D will be within 5% of the performance of the Ryzen 9 7950X3D but at a price $250 lower. This 8-core CPU will also be $130 cheaper than the Core i9-13900K currently selling.
