Twinmotion 2023 – Trimble sells Sketchup to Epic

the rate of improvement in Twinmotion since Epic bought it has been outstanding…
Epic needs a modeler in their software package…
Please sell them Sketchup and put us out of our misery!

Twinmotion cost me $2000 in 2016
now it costs $400
it is free for non-commercial use
it is still a perpetual license
it is much more capable than 2016

Does Trimble have the same development path?

Oh! they also have a roadmap

Where do you find the free link for non-commercial use?

While your points may be valid, they will never happen. :without grace:

I agree that they work hard, bringing many updates each year. Great software.

They have a really generous licensing system; read more here FAQ: Unreal Engine

Like @gsharp, I can only admire how much Unreal and Twinmotion (and Blender) have developed in the last 10 years. It’s absolutely amazing what Unreal is capable of today. I think the success of Fortnite has a big role in generating money to recruit/allow developers to continually improve. They need to continually improve and be a leader or triple A game studios won’t buy a license.

It’s ok but when I go to your website (Twinmotion) I see a free trial but it doesn’t give a time frame. However, they really have come a long way.

See here: unlimited test for no comercial work. Twinmotion Licensing and Pricing | Free trial available – Twinmotion

The massive Fortnite+ investment from China in recent years has really allowed them to make broad moves across multiple industries.

Highlight the part to be quoted, right above the highlighted part the word quote will appear, click on it.

It is a free trial for unlimited time. (I know, it’s hard to believe)

Try Twinmotion for free for as long as you need for non-commercial use, or upgrade to the full version for you or your company.

I see someone already said it…

It’s still cool.

Please at least partner with Twinmotion. Sketchup is becoming an embarrassment, if it isn’t already.

It’s surprising how many posts complain about SketchUp’s lack of development and poor performance compared to other software, especially Blender and Epic, which are free. Everyone has a limit of patience and if they don’t solve their problems soon, the users will reach their limit and Trimble will lose a lot of customers = money.

Maybe a benefit to users and a potential benefit to Trimble, BUT what does Epic get out of the deal? They already have a modeler.

I’m grateful that TM takes care of *.skp natively. It wasn’t like that during the initial releases.

It really is amazing, you pay for what you get. SketchUp is a bargain compared to the others, they cost hundreds more.

Weird – I’m amazed at how many people complain about SketchUp compared to programs like Blender with no idea of Blender’s actual capabilities (or lack thereof in many areas).

People talk a lot, but for the things that SketchUp excels at, like architectural modeling, CAD modeling, creating 2D plans, etc., I don’t really see a lot of people switching because SketchUp is so much better in those areas. . That’s coming from someone who also loves Blender.

Yeah.

Also, there aren’t a lot of posts from people complaining.
Since the launch of SU23, how long have we had, 40 people posting complaints? fifty?
about how many million total users thousands of forum users?

This is the perverse of feedback, only discontent is heard, people with complaints and reproaches. No one is going to create a “yeah, I’m fine with SU23” thread.

but. they may lose some, though they can simply go back to SU2022 while they wait for the fixes. and they will continue to earn more, I mean why the iPad version? Also, what other architectural design 3D modeler can you get for this price, right? a timeshare in revit?

I’ve given up posting reviews and wish lists years ago…it doesn’t make sense.
