With Shazam! fury of the gods Now in theaters, the time has come to revisit the age-old question: who is the most powerful character in the DCEU? The cinematic universe has among its ranks some of the most recognizable and beloved characters in comic book history, and while it doesn’t always know how to use them, it somehow manages to do them justice against all odds.
Throughout the thirteen DCEU films, many characters have come and gone, showcasing their considerable skills and wowing audiences, though not always critics. The most powerful are practically gods, possessing powers that defy imagination, making them nearly invincible. Newcomers like Black Adam have quickly made a name for themselves among these godlike figures, but the DCEU’s best and brightest are mostly the usual comic book suspects.
10. Cyborg
Poor Cyborg had the short end of the stick in the now infamous League of Justice. Even when receiving a good characterization in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, it was still cursed with some of the worst CGI in any superhero movie. At least his powers got a good showcase in Snyder’s version, but just barely.
Cyborg’s abilities come from a Mother Box, which means he can fly and possesses technopathy. Also, his body is converted into various weapons, usually cannons or other blasters. The Snyder cut hints that Cyborg’s abilities are much more impressive than anyone realizes; however, the film doesn’t have time to fully explore them, likely because there was once supposed to be a Cyborg solo movie dated April 2020. Unfortunately, the current DCEU version of Cyborg is powerful but underdeveloped. .
9. Starro the Conqueror
Let James Gunn adapt one of DC Comics’ strangest characters. Under the filmmaker’s vision, Starro the Conqueror came to glorious life in the acclaimed but commercially unsuccessful 2021 film. the suicide squad. Starro is an alien captured by the Thinker and is being experimented on by the United States government.
Starro’s power of control makes him incredibly dangerous. Surpassing most living organisms, Starro commands entire armies without lifting an arm. However, Starro is quite slow and somewhat clumsy, living up to the traditional perception of the goofy giant. Also, Starro is extremely vulnerable to physical attacks; heck, Harley Quinn kills him by stabbing him in the eye. Starro is strong, but considering that he has a major weakness in half of his body, he is far from the all-powerful weapon.
8. The Lightning
Barry Allen is the fastest man alive. After being struck by lightning, Barry gains the power to run at superhuman speed. He can also access the Speed Force, an extradimensional energy source from which he apparently draws his power. The DCEU has yet to fully explore his connection to the Speed Force, though it could happen in the next movie. The flash.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League it shows that Barry can travel through time by entering the Speed Force. His abilities go far beyond just “running fast”; in fact, Barry can alter reality itself. On a more practical level, he can also generate lightning and use it as an attack. The only thing holding Barry back is his lack of experience in fighting and physical training; in short, he is less than useful in close combat. However, his considerable metahuman abilities more than make up for his clumsiness in battle.
7. Aquaman
Jason Momoa’s Aquaman hasn’t been around for a while. aquaman and the lost kingdom it keeps getting pushed; it currently has a release date of December 25, 2023, but who knows if it will make it. It’s a shame because the character is funny and very powerful, as evidenced by his numerous battles within the DCEU. Whether he’s fighting Parademons, deranged water kings, or even the Man of Steel himself, Aquaman is no longer the joke of the DC Universe.
However, there are limits to Aquaman’s powers. He couldn’t take on Superman alone and he had trouble defeating his half-brother, Orm. Black Manta also gave him a chance, showing that Aquaman’s strength is limited. He’s still a powerful hero with considerable abilities, but he’s far from the strongest character in the current DCEU.
6. Black Adam
Fresh off his failed big screen debut, Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam might already be forgotten by audiences. However, the character is among the most powerful in DC’s current power hierarchy. Blessed with the powers of the wizard Shazam, Adam becomes the ruthless protector of the city of Kahndaq, not afraid to get his hands dirty to get the job done.
Adam can fly and has super strength, speed, stamina, and lightning powers. He is imposing and dangerous, especially with his take-no-prisoners attitude. Unlike other DC characters, Adam is willing to let his powers wreak havoc on the world, civilian casualties to hell. It’s unlikely we’ll see Adam again: James Gunn has no room for him in his DC universe. However, a battle between him and Superman would have been a true clash of the titans.
5.Shazam
Like Black Adam, Shazam has all the powers of the wizard who gave him his name. Solomon’s Wisdom! The strength of Hercules! Atlas Resistance! The power of Zeus! The courage of Achilles! Mercury speed! It doesn’t matter that Shazam combines Roman and Greek deities for the sake of his portmanteau. The important thing is that he has powers to spare.
Unlike Black Adam, however, Shazam isn’t alone. He has a family of allies who are slightly less powerful than him, but who can make all the difference when they work alongside him on the battlefield. Although they are still children, Shazam and his family are powerful enough to take on multiple villains; in fact, they might just be powerful enough to take on Wonder Woman or Aquaman. Maybe.
4. Wonder Woman
Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman is a force of nature. An immortal demigod princess and Amazon warrior, Wonder Woman lives for battle. She can’t help it; she is in her blood. Her power is quite clear in her two solo adventures on the big screen, with Wonder Woman showing his leadership ability in times of war and wonder woman 1984 showing his strength of spirit. Wonder Woman is a major threat thanks to her superhuman strength, speed, stamina, and skill with her sword and shield. She also possesses the Lasso of Hestia, a magical golden lasso that forces others to speak candidly.
However, Wonder Woman’s signature weapons are the Bracers of Submission, although the DCEU portrays them as bracers. Striking them together unleashes a massive blast of energy capable of taking down some of DC’s most powerful characters, including Superman, Doomsday, and Steppenwolf. Wonder Woman has shown her power in hand-to-hand combat, holding her own against Doomsday and Steppenwolf, though she is unable to defeat them on her own.
3. Judgment Day
An abomination in every sense of the word, Doomsday is the result of an experiment where Lex Luthor mixed his DNA with that of General Zod. He is a creature of pure rage and violence, capable of absorbing energy and becoming stronger from it. He grows bigger, stronger, and more deformed with every direct hit he takes, cementing himself as one of the biggest threats in the DCEU. He does not seem capable of reasoning; instead, he appears to be a creature filled with hate and anger, the last hunter looking for his prey.
Despite all of his strengths, Doomsday is still a Kryptonian and therefore vulnerable to Kryptonite. Still, the beast is nearly unstoppable, capable of destroying entire cities in seconds. It takes the combined power of Superman and Wonder Woman to subdue him. However, Doomsday is confronted by a tired and already injured Superman; had the Man of Steel been in his prime, the battle would still have been brutal but much more even.
2. Steppenwolf
The DCEU isn’t exactly famous for its villains. Much like its main competitor, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, most of the DCEU’s antagonists are forgettable and underdeveloped. However, the four hour epic that is Zack Snyder’s Justice League comes closer to introducing a worthy foe for DC’s mightiest heroes. Steppenwolf isn’t particularly three-dimensional or well-developed, but he’s convincing and even a little likeable. Above all, he’s menacing, living up to his role as the only villain capable of uniting the Justice League.
Steppenwolf is powerful enough to fight an entire army of Amazon warriors and prevail. He can also fight Aquaman and Wonder Woman at the same time without losing the advantage. Steppenwolf is one of Darkseid’s military officers, though his status on Apokolips is contentious at best. And while the movie portrays him as one of the lowliest officers of the New Gods, he’s still a huge threat to the people of Earth. Steppenwolf also commands an army of Parademons, which only increases his destructive power.
1. superman
Who else but the Man of Steel would top a ranking of the most powerful characters in the DCEU? Superman lives up to his name, acting as the most powerful being in most iterations of the DC Universe. The Last Son of Krypton has a multitude of destructive and potentially catastrophic powers, including super strength, flight, heat vision, and icy breath. He’s as fast as Flash, presumably, anyway, and as brave as Wonder Woman, as fierce as Aquaman, and as good-natured as Cyborg. Superman is the complete package.
Man of Steel shows him fighting and defeating the much more experienced General Zod in hand-to-hand combat. He is also able to cope with Judgment Day despite the fact that he is badly injured from his previous exposure to Kryptonite during his battle with Batman. Zack Snyder’s Justice League it shows him taking on the entire Justice League without even breaking a sweat before subduing Steppenwolf in a one-on-one match. There is no competition here; Superman is the most powerful character in the DCEU. And while we may have seen the last of Henry Cavill’s Superman, his legacy will live on in the minds and hearts of millions of fans around the world.
